Food Review #8 - Instant Curry

I found this instant curry at a local grocery store
And I have been dying to try one
Coz my sis keeps on telling me how tasty it is
So finally, it is time for the taste test!

So according to the instructions,
I'm supposed to boil this packet

So here I am, boiling it
PS: I pushed the contents down so it can be fully submerged in water when boiling

After it is done boiling,
I simply dump some boiled potatoes into the curry and mix them together

And voila
My dinner: Curry + rice

Japanese curry has this.... texture
That makes you very, very full after the meal
I don't know why
But nevertheless
It is not as spicy as Indian curry
So it is one of the reason I prefer Japanese curry.
Also, it taste good without the rice.

I like it,
I would give it a 9/10
and i will get another one next time I go grocery shopping

Food Review #7 - EMGRAIN

So, lately, I have been addicted to this oat drink
-- EMGRAIN
with beetroot and seaweed collagen
Collagen, exactly what a woman needs, right? *wink* *wink*

And they say:
Dump your fats, Gain your health
All goodness in one bottle!
EMGRAIN

EMGRAIN is a collagen oat drink which aids on giving you a better diet and healthy lifestyle.
It consists of seaweed collagen, beetroot, calcium, soya lecithin, brown rice and vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12.

Here's some science facts that might get your attention:
  • Seaweed collagen provides bio-available calcium and magnesium as well as wide variety of trace minerals, essential for maintaining healthy bones, digestive health and promote joint mobility.
  • Beetroot is virtually fat free and low in calories. It helps to reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, in turn protecting artery walls and reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
  • Soya lecithin hastens the breakdown of fats, boost metabolism and prevents the build-up of fats in the walls of the heart, arteries and brain, which lowers down cholesterol and prevents cardiovascular diseases AND helps in preventing memory loss.

It also has no preservatives, no coloring and no trans fat.

So, in general, it helps in:
- Boosting metabolism and circulation
- Adding on vitamins in body
- Reducing risk of cardiovascular diseases, cholesterol, high blood pressure and blood sugar reduction
- Rejuvenate and radiant

PS:
Please take note that once the container is opened, it is advisable to consume within 3 months for better taste.
Store in room temperature under cool and dry condition.
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

And look,
it even has another protective cover under the lid
to keep the contents cool and dry

This is how the powder looks like:
All pink and a bit brown
It also has a spoon
For easier measuring how much you want to consume

Ok.
So this is how I drink it everyday.

1. Put 250 ml of lukewarm water into a beaker
(Sorry, the number's not visible)
Lukewarm, not too hot, not too cold
Coz I found that lukewarm water makes the oat drink have a more concentrated consistency

2. Dump 2 scoops of the oat powder into the water
(with the spoon that the EMGRAIN package comes with)
See how the water turns pink when it touches water?
Very pretty, right? *gasps*

3. Close the lid of the beaker
Make sure it's closed tightly,
So it doesn't leak for the next thing we're going to do

4. Shake it
Until it is fully combined and there are no lumps of the oat powder visible

5. Drink it

One bottle of Emgrain Collagen Oat drink can last for 2-3 weeks.
Assuming you are drinking it on a daily basis.
Like me. :)

I like it very much for the nutrition purposes
And also because it's pink
And I like pink

So, I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try drinking oats
Coz it's healthier
And it is more easy to consume than whole oats
with the same nutritional values
So, why not?

Food Review #6 - Yogood Muesli bar Part 2

Hello again,
Today we're going to do another Muesli bar from Yogood review.
This time
we're doing Peach Mango Green Tea muesli bar

I put a lot more photos of the packaging this time
because I didn't put enough photos last time
And I just want to take a moment to appreciate the pretty packaging they have
It looks so.... clean
I mean, very simple and ..... healthy
Am I right?

So anyways,
here's how an individual bar look like:

The white stuff is the yogurt
I think it is the plain type of yogurt
This bar looks a bit greenish compared to the Wildberry one I've tried last time
I suppose its the matcha powder

So anyway,
it tastes sweet
I could taste the peach and mango flavor in it
the green tea.... not so much
I guess it has green tea flavor,
but it is covered by the stronger peach and mango taste
Its kinda sticky. Stick to teeth kind of sticky
But I don't mind
I like the texture of the rice crispies
So chewy, just how I like my bars.
So, I give this one a 9/10.
Because, it is my cup of tea,
or rather, my type of food.

So, I will continue my muesli hunt in another blog post....
Soon....
That's all for now.
Bye~

Food Review #5 - Cheesy Yoppokki, Anyone?

Lately I have been craving for some toppokki and enoki mushrooms
Then I remembered, I have bought some during the food expo

So, today, I'm gonna make this:

again, with my trusty electric lunch box

here's where I bought mine if you are interested

So, in that package
there are 2 sets (1 set = a pack of toppokki and a pack of sauce)

So, I boiled some enoki and the toppokki together
and the cheese sauce seperately
because I am anxious about how it would taste

After they are cooked,
I ate them in a sauce dip way
Like so:

So, the taste is not bad
it definitely soothed my cravings
So because I cooked the sauce and the toppokki separately
the taste isn't very strong
I mean, it doesn't really fully absorbed into the rice cake when I dipped it in
But the sauce tasted like melted cheese with some herbs in it
It smells nice, and tasted good too
Even though I made the sauce too liquidy....
But it is a little bit spicy
No matter, I like my cheese a little savory
Otherwise it would be too.... plain and my taste buds will get tired of it fast
Hence, I give this a 9.5/10
It would be better if my sauce is more sauce-y
Nevermind, I can try it again next time
I still have another pack afterall....

Food Review #4 - Korean Instant Noodles

Lately, I have went to local grocery stores and found these:
Korean Instant Noodles
Since I bought an electric lunch box

So I thought: "hmmm..... why don't I try to cook these? It'll be fun to do taste tests."
and so, I bought 2 of them:

1. Udon Noodle with Soup Base (Kimchi Flavor)

So, inside the package there are:
udon noodles, kimchi sachet and the powdered udon soup flavoring

This is how the included kimchi block looks like:

And this is how it looks like after it is cooked:

A bowl of kimchi flavored udon
Since the kimchi block already has its on flavor,
so I only put about half a packet of the udon soup flavoring inside
Mainly is because I wanted to taste the Kimchi more than the udon soup
Actually I have never tasted udon before
I have to say, the noodles are a bit chewy,
but it is not starchy, thank God
The kimchi smell is really fragrant by the way
And the stock tastes like.... discount Kimchi soup
it tasted like kimchi, but not as strong as real kimchi
So, for this instant noodle,
I'll give it a 8/10.

2. Chacharoni (Chinese Soybean Paste Ramen)

Inside it there are:
the noodles, the paste, and the flakes (beans, fried onions)

It says to cook the noodles and the flakes first:

Then after it is cooked,
I separated the water from the noodles and flakes
and added the paste

and mixed them in
until I got this:

Well it doesn't look very appetizing....
I shouldn't put the whole packet of paste in
Because it's a little too salty for me
I figured maybe its because I cook the flakes along with the noodle
So it made the noodles smell nice
For it's taste.....
I can't say I like it, but I don't dislike it as well
it's my own fault for putting too much paste
For this one, I'll give it a.... 6.5/10
Maybe if the paste isn't so thick, I would like it better
Well, I wasn't a big fan of pastes to begin with...

Ok, that's all for today
Please leave me any suggestions on some other food that is nice
I'll try to find them and try taste testing them
Thanks again

Food Review #3 - Quakers Instant Cup Oats #2

Hello again.
So today I'm continuing my instant cup oats review
So, last time I left the maple & brown sugar and the apple & cranberries flavored ones untested
See the other instant cup oat review here >> http://blackcatning.blogspot.my/2016/03/food-review-2-quakers-instant-cup-oats.html
Today, I'm gonna continue the taste tests

Ok, so here's the apple and cranberries one.

The top view:

Front view:

Back view:

Here's how it looks like before I add water to it:

After adding water and waited for around 2 mins or so:

Taste thoughts:
As you can see here,
there are real apple and cranberry bits.
The apples are all soggy after soaked in the water,
but the cranberries tastes good
There are also some.... cinnamon apple taste to it.
It tasted more mild than the other 2 flavors.
Mostly I'm just eating the apples and the cranberries bite after bite
As there are quite many bits in this cup...
Anyways, compared with the other 2 flavors
I like this one the best
So I'm giving it a 9/10 rating

And now, for the maple & brown sugar one:
Except for the ingredients list,
the back view is pretty much the same thing as the other two flavors

The insides look pretty much the same

After I added water and waited 2 mins,
this is what happened:

Taste Thoughts:
I'm pretty sure I added water til the line there....
since it is impossible to screw up such a simple instruction....
Not sure what happened and why is it so watery.....
But anyways,
it tastes sweet. Very sweet I must say...
I can really taste the maple syrup.
It's very accurate.
However, for this one,
basically you're just eating plain oats with maple and brown sugar flavoring.
I like something I can chew on when I eat oats
So.... it's a bit of a downer for me....
Therefore, I give it a 6/10.

Well, that concludes the Quakers instant cup oats review.
So, if there are any other food you think I should try
Leave a suggestion in the comments down below
Thanks :)
